Proposed new animal control bylaw offers options for keeping animals on country residential properties

Bylaw-Sessions

Residents of Beaver County were able to attend two information sessions last week to help them understand the proposed new Animal Control Bylaw, which applies to all parcels of land in the county under 40 acres.

Farms and other property over this limit are not part of this bylaw; however, the one exception is that everyone must adhere to a three-dog limit on their property.

The information sessions were held last Tuesday evening at Lindbrook Hall and last Thursday evening at Spilstead Hall.

If the number of residents who attended is any gauge, this newly proposed bylaw hasn’t sparked a huge reaction from the public. County officials said about 20 people stopped by over a three-hour period at each hall in the West End of the county.

The bylaw will apply more to acreage owners in the west end than to mostly farm owners in the east end of the county.
