Ryley Youth fundraise for worthy cause

The Ryley Leadership Dessert Night Nov. 19 featured live music as a backdrop to delicious desserts and pastries for all who attended the fundraiser at the Ryley Community Centre.

A silent auction full of donated items from people and businesses in the community was followed up with a live auction by auctioneer Wes Magneson.

Speeches were made by the group’s members on leadership, last year’s trip to Mexico to build a house, and the upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic Feb. 11-21 to do the same. An audio video presentation prepared by Kristy Giebelhaus was also shown about the 2015 Mexico trip.

Group member Baileigh Klammer said the trip will give her “a glimpse of what younger kids than me have to go through every day,” as they struggle to survive in another country.
