Tofield Mayor urges all to come out and enjoy 2015 WinterFest this Friday, Saturday and Sunday
The Town of Tofield will be bursting at the seams next weekend with all the fun activities taking place during 2015 Winterfest.
And Mayor Harold Conquest is urging everyone to come out and enjoy themselves during this time of celebration.
“We’ve ordered warmer weather for this week,” he said, reminding everyone that, this year, the chili taste-off will be held indoors in the Town of Tofield Council Chambers from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“Even with the cold last year, we had a great crowd,” he said. This year the cold isn’t expected to be as bracing and events such as Breakfast with Santa in the Legion and Stuff the Bus in the IGA Parking lot should have a brisk business receiving donations for the Community Christmas Hamper Program.
Don’t forget everything kicks off with the Farmers’ Market Friday afternoon, followed with the Christmas Bazaar Saturday, both in the community hall. The United Church Christmas tea, children’s activities beside Thor Agencies, and carollers light up the day. Then at night, the parade takes place downtown from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. when the lighting of the tree takes place at the Bank of Montreal at 6 p.m. with hot chocolate and popcorn to add to the fun. After that, the “Frozen” themed family dance next door in the hall is a great chance to warm up with hot dogs and hot chocolate.
Also, take in the Tofield Historical Society Open House on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the Carol Festival at The House Ministries starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
There is so much to do and see, with a chance to socialize with family, friends and neighbours, the festival will have something for everybody. So take the ma-yor’s advice and come out to enjoy it all.
