Beaver County Council salaries “significantly below” neighbouring municipalities

Beaver County councillors reviewed their salary and duty pay in December and agreed to a 1.5 per cent cost of living increase to their remuneration as of Jan. 1.

As well the reeve will get an extra $200 for a direct cash payment of $500 and the deputy reeve gets an extra $200 for a total of $300, on top of duty pay.

Beaver County will continue to provide per meeting duty pay of $210.13 per full day meeting and $105.07 for a half day meeting.

Even so, the review concluded that “current meeting rates (for Beaver County) rank below the averages for other municipalities regardless of pay type (meeting only or salary plus meeting).”

In the review presented Dec. 16 to Beaver County Council, 10 municipalities were compared to the remuneration provided Beaver County councillors.
