Tofield enjoys “real growth” in 2015 – Tax assessment up by over $4.5 million

Mayoral-Address Despite the downturn in the provincial economy, Tofield appears to be thriving. An increase in assessment has boosted taxes, jobs and population, the mayor reported last week.



Tofield’s tax assessment base grew by over $4.5 million in 2015. The main part of that growth, nearly 63 per cent, took place in the the job creating sector of industry and business, or $2.8 million.

The tax assessment in the town’s residential sector rose by 33 per cent, or $1.5 million, which means people are moving into town to reside.

Mayor Harold Conquest delivered the good news during his Mayoral Address at the Tofield and District Chamber of Commerce meeting March 2.
