Ryley Legion celebrates 70th anniversary with open house

The Ryley Branch #192 of the Royal Canadian Legion marked an auspicious day Saturday by celebrating its 75th anniversary with an open house.

The Ryley Legion was first chartered on April 2, 1946. The original charter members were Dan Bendiksen, Elmer Anderson, Robert Vergette, R. Gildes, B. Kirkelund, Ernest Brown, Clifford Pepper, C. Teare, Fred Loades, A. Annebo, Martin Finseth, W. Stefura, Harold Vergette, Bob Bendiksen and N. Rurka.

The 15 members were officially chartered on March 22, 1946 at the Oddfellow’s Hall with Ernest Brown acting as chairman for the occasion.
