School buses no longer renting to community groups

The Battle River School Division (BRSD) no longer rents out its school buses to community groups. The decision is effective May 1.

“This was an administrative decision, not a decision made by the board,” said communications officer for BRSD Diane Hutchinson. “But the decision was shared with the board earlier this spring to ensure they were aware.”

Brenda Johnson, director of transportation at BRSD, said non-school groups are restricted from using the buses for several reasons.

“We do not have the manpower available to support the booking, maintenance, permits and invoicing of school buses for outside groups,” she said.
