Crowds fill streets to enjoy 14th Annual Heritage Classic
The Tofield Lions Club outdid themselves once again, this time for their 14th Annual Heritage Classic Show n’ Shine, held every year on Monday of the Heritage Day long weekend.
“It was an awesome car show,” said Lions past-president Darryl Romaniuk, who was an organizer along with announcing for the afternoon show, held from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Aug. 1.
About 135 cars and other vehicles were registered for the event, which Romaniuk said was down about 40 from last year. Rain in the morning, which affected the entire region, may have hampered some from coming to show their vehicles. But the rain stopped and the afternoon turned out beautifully for the over 200 people who came out to see the many kinds and makes of vehicles on display.
People enjoyed their time walking around the main street of Tofield, which is closed for the duration of the show, looking at the wide variety of vehicles. Many spent time looking under the hood of a car or truck, or remarked that their parents or someone they knew used to own a particular vehicle.
