Hwy. 834 month-long construction begins with road closure
The road closure for Secondary Highway 834 began Aug. 2nd and will continue until Friday, Sept. 2 as piping is replaced underneath the highway by contractors working for Alberta Transportation.
This means the high load corridor for wide load vehicles is also closed for the time being, which means alternative routes will have to be found for the many giant loads that normally come off Highway 14 and head north through town.
Part of this high load corridor runs past C.W. Sears Elementary. School staff, buses and parents bringing students will have to deal with road closures Thursday, Sept. 1 and Friday, Sept. 2, the first and second days of the new school year.
Official re-routing signs have been placed along the way as most will have to access the school from the north where the road is closed to everything but local traffic.
