Reeve Smook and Clr. Scott help proclaim Beaver Hills Biosphere Day
Reeve and Division 1 Councillor Kevin Smook and Division 2 Councillor Sieko Scott represented Beaver County last Friday for the grand opening of the first project initiated since the Beaver Hills Moraine was designated a UNESCO Biosphere on March 21, 2016.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Beaver Hills Biodiversity Trail was held at the head of the trail system on the east side of Range Road 211 in Strathcona County.
However, those representing the different municipalities that belong to the Beaver Hills Initiative, the group that spearheaded the designation, also took time to officially proclaim Sept. 9 as Beaver Hills Biosphere Day.
