School buses no longer renting to community groups
The Battle River School Division (BRSD) no longer rents out its school buses to community groups. The decision is effective May 1.
“This was an administrative decision, not a decision made by the board,” said communications officer for BRSD Diane Hutchinson. “But the decision was shared with the board earlier this spring to ensure they were aware.”

Ryley Mayor Lavonne Svenson won’t be quitting her mayoral job anytime soon.

Armed robbery at Holden ATB
An armed robbery at the Alberta Treasury Branch (ATB) Financial Agency in Holden Monday afternoon resulted in three separate RCMP detachments racing to the scene. Two masked suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money and the investigation is continuing.
The crime unfolded with the suspects, who had parked in the alley behind the building, walking between the ATB and Post Office buildings to access the street where they entered the ATB office.

Total fire ban lifted in Tofield and other areas of Beaver County
Tofield firefighters responded to a fire call southeast of town last Thursday afternoon. The fire took place just south of Highway 14 on the east side of Rge. Rd. 193.
