Candles lit in remembrance at Tofield School ceremony

candles-tofieldschool Tofield School gymnasium last Thursday was filled for the annual Remembrance service honouring Canada’s war dead.

The services are part of many held in schools and halls throughout the land during this most important week of honouring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and thanking those who remain.

County looks for alternate revenue sources – increased police enforcement one recommendation

revenue-peaceofficer The county’s long-term financial future was examined by MNP LLP and presented to the committee of the whole at its Nov. 2 meeting. With the drop in linear assessment, the county is looking for alternate revenue sources.

One suggestion given in a recent study was to increase police enforcement.

Groundbreaking for new store on Tofield’s west side – new 16,000 sq. ft. Ace Hardware and Building Supplies to be built

hardware-groundbreakingTru Hardware owners Chris and Matt Trushinski held an official groundbreaking ceremony Nov. 1st on the site of what will be their new store in Tofield.

The Trushinski father and son team have owned Tru Hardware for the past nine years, but have bought 1.3 acres on the west side of Tofield from the Town of Tofield where they intend to build a new 16,000 sq. ft. hardware store.

The store will have two entranceways, one off Creamery Road to the west and

2016 Fireman’s Ball fundraises for Stollery

firemansball-frontThe 2016 Fireman’s Ball, sponsored by the Tofield Fire Department Society, is an event held every three years as a fundraiser for the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

This was an especially poignant event, however, with the announcement that the funds raised – with the goal of $10,000 or more – would go towards the purchase of a specimen freezer for the Pediatric Gastro-Enterology and Nutrition Department at the Stollery.

Society President Kevin Moos told the crowd about the department’s personal reason for this choice as one of their own, firefighter Devon McCharles and his wife Theresa’s daughter, Claire, has been spending a great deal of time at the Stollery after being diagnosed with an Interleukin-10 receptor deficit.

Moos called them “one of our own fire family,” and
