19-year-old female arrested for assault
During the past week Tofield RCMP responded to 63 calls for service. Included in the calls for service were three motor vehicle collisions and two false alarms.
On June 5, Capital District Traffic services was on patrol in Tofield and conducted a vehicle stop on a white Audi. On checking the vehicle, the smell of marijuana was noted from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and the vehicle searched incidental to arrest. A small amount of marijuana was located in the vehicle. Given the small amount, officer discretion was used and no charges were laid on the driver.
On June 6, the Tofield RCMP received a call of a possible impaired driver. The caller reported the vehicle was swerving and then pulled over and stopped in Tofield. The caller waited until police arrived. On checking the driver, members noted signs of impairment and the smell of alcohol. The driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device and the result was a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to the RCMP detachment where he provided two samples of breath both being 100 mg%. The driver a 58-year-old male from Holden was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08. He was released from custody on a Promise To Appear to attend Vegreville Provincial Court on Aug. 20 at 10 a.m.
On June 7, Tofield RCMP responded to a call of shooting at a rural location in Beaver County.
