Growing the sport of soccer in Tofield and area

Even though it’s a short-lived season of a few games over two months, there is an avid interest in the sport. With U5, U7, U9, U11, and U13 teams in the fray, Tofield and area soccer landscape is growing, and the numbers bear testimony to this.

“Bob Anderson had done a great job, so when I took over, I just had to keep running it, and making sure that we’re growing,” said Tofield Minor Soccer Association (TMSA) President Amanda Hanasyk. “We’ve been very pleased with the numbers this year, and especially after we’ve changed the even-number format to odd-number, there’s been an increase with 144 registered players.”

To have 17 teams in total across five age groups speaks for itself.

“We had six teams each in U5 and U7, two teams each in U9 and U11, and one in U13,” Hanasyk added. “Our players are mostly from the Beaver County and Tofield; and games are played in town up to U9, with U11 and U13 having to travel.”
