Local music event ‘Wild Oats & Notes’ draws crowds

From June 29 to July 1, just outside Tofield the local music festival Wild Oats and Notes was held at main organizer Brian Schultz’s farm.

Drawing crowds from all across the province, the festival has been a mainstay of the community for a few years, showcasing a range of music genres.

Schultz’s interest in music goes way back, and although he doesn’t play any instrument, he said, “When I hear music, I know whether it will appeal to our kind of crowd.”

It is based on this ability that Schultz has been able to grow this festival over the past 20 years.

“We host it every two years because it requires a lot of work and it is completely volunteer-run,” Schultz added. “On Monday, July 2 we hosted a volunteer-appreciation event, entertaining them so that they could feel loved and appreciated.”
