Vehicle thefts and Holden incidents keep Tofield RCMP busy

During the past week Tofield RCMP responded to 64 calls for service.

On July 16, a resident of Beaver County near Ryley reported the gate to the neighbour’s property was unhinged. Trail cams on the property were checked and showed two suspects on the property with their faces covered. A few days later on July 20, the caller noticed the garage door was left open on the property and several items missing including a red tractor. The trail cams were again checked and captured the suspects on the property in possession of the items. RCMP are still investigating.

On July 16, a call was received in regards to a fraud in Holden. The caller reported they had made arrangements to purchase a vehicle from a Holden resident. The caller had made a down payment for the vehicle and was to pick it up at a later date. After the initial deal, the seller advised the caller they did not make enough money on the deal and were changing out items on the vehicle. As the item was no longer being sold “as is” the caller wanted their money back and the seller declined to do so. RCMP are still investigating.
