It was a packed trailer lot in Tofield and Ryley from Friday, Aug 31 with as many as 80 teams participating in the 23rd Ry-Tof Slo-pitch Tournament. Held across Tofield and Ryley, the tournament has become a mainstay on the community over the Labour Day weekend.

“We had teams from Edmonton, St. Albert, Camrose, Vegreville, Mallaig, Edson, Ft. Saskatchewan, St. Paul, besides Tofield and Beaver County,” said Vanita Eglauer, main organizer and Town of Tofield’s Recreation/Facilities Coordinator.

Round Robin games ran Saturday and Sunday, with the finals beginning on Monday as early as 8 a.m. for some teams.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers in both communities who make this tournament happen,” Eglauer said. “Whether on the diamonds or at the dances, this event couldn’t happen without you. And congratulations to all the winning teams.”
