Rob Johnson seeking to represent UCP in new Camrose riding

Daysland farmer Rob Johnson has officially thrown his hat in the ring as a contestant to represent the United Conservative Party for the new Camrose Electoral District.

Johnson is a familiar name for those presently in the Battle River-Wainwright constituency, as he was a contestant for the Wildrose Party nomination prior to the 2011 provincial election.

Johnson says he’s been involved with politics locally since the inception of the Battle River-Wainwright Wildrose Constituency Association, where he was the founding president.

“I come from a very politically aware family,” he says.

Choosing Wildrose, he says, wasn’t difficult. “It had to do with how the PC party, at the time, was treating agriculture… not good. The hog industry was also decimated, and they caused that.” . . .
