Town of Tofield hosts its annual Tofield Flys Pink event

Despite the chilly weather and sporadic flurries, Tofield and area residents came together to raise awareness for breast cancer on Saturday evening, Sept. 29.

Mayor Deb Dueck, who was one of the main organizers said, “We have moved the event to the evening and are planning to go round the arena along the trail a few times.”

Hosted by the Town of Tofield, the event is a great way to bring people’s attention to breast cancer. Participants of all age groups registered before 7 p.m., with the walk starting on the hour. Many chose to do more than one lap.

Although most walkers started trickling in around 7:30 p.m., the last ones to arrive were just past the 8 p.m. mark.

There were cookies and cake, along with coffee, juice, and water for all participants.

The arena meeting room was where the registration took place, and that’s where everyone gathered at the end of their walk.

The youngest participant was seven months old on her dad’s back.
