Collisions involving wildlife on the rise

During the past week Tofield RCMP responded to 52 calls for service. Included in the calls for service were seven motor vehicle collisions mostly involving animals.

On Oct. 15, Tofield RCMP were on patrol and conducted a vehicle stop on a Buick Century. The driver of the vehicle was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Edmonton. The driver, a 61-year- old male from Stony Plain, was arrested on the warrant and released on a Promise To Appear to attend court in Edmonton on Nov. 1.

On Oct. 16, a resident of Beaver County reported his white GMC truck had been stolen from his residence. On checking the trail cameras on the property the caller advised there were pictures of a red SUV on the cameras around the time the vehicle was stolen. The RCMP were searching for the vehicle when a call was received of a red Ford Expedition, which hit the ditch off of Rge. Rd. 195. Witness advised a female was leaving the area on foot who was located by RCMP. On checking the vehicle, the licence plate was found to have been stolen from Edmonton and the vehicle had several break-in tools inside. The female, a 28-year-old from Edmonton was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of break-in tools. She was held for a Judicial release hearing and was released on a no cash recognizance to attend Vegreville Provincial Court on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. . . . contd.
