Kingman Grains for the Hungry hosts its sixth annual

It was a great day of harvesting with clear blue skies, as the Kingman Grains for the Hungry project held their sixth annual on Friday, Oct. 26.

The field was located two miles straight north of Kingman, east side of the road, with Brenda and Jim Wideman being the cooperating land-owners this year. The 140-acre project field was seeded to canola on May 24, 2018.

“This is really a community project with strong local support, and we had a record turnout at the event with 85 community members joining us,” said Guy Anderson, coordinator for the project. “The project is sponsored by the Kingman Marketing Group. Every year, community interest and support from area churches, community and local agribusinesses have been growing steadily, and this year despite the short notice of less than one week for our actual harvest day, we had people show up!”

The Kingman Marketing Group is a local producer group of 20 farm operations that have been meeting regularly since 1991. . . . contd.
