Christmas hamper campaign 2018 begins
With only seven weeks away for Christmas, this year’s Christmas hamper program is kicking into gear, according to Vanita Eglauer, Town of Tofield Recreation/Facilities Coordinator.
The Community Christmas Hamper program has been providing hampers to residents of Tofield, Ryley and Beaver County (west end) for many years – providing a Christmas hamper for families who need a little extra support during Christmas.
As this year’s program starts up, here’s what Eglauer said community members need to know. Hamper requests and referrals are now being accepted. To make such requests, the Tofield Ryley/Beaver West FCSS needs to be contacted at 780-662-7607, or can be visited, located at 5407 – 50 St. The deadline for hamper request is Tuesday, Dec. 4. A photo ID and proof of address are required.
Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 14, ‘Angel trees’ will be set up at the post office in both Tofield and Ryley. You can collect an angel from the tree, and using the information on that angel (the age, sex and interests of a child), purchase a gift you think that child may like. Return the unwrapped gift, with the angel attached, to the collection box in the post office by Friday, Dec. 14.
“Both food and cash donations will be accepted for the duration of the campaign,” Eglauer said. “Food collection box is located at IGA in Tofield, while Cash donation “Red Stockings” will be located at the banks in Tofield and Ryley.” . . . contd.
