Busy B Bargains shine light on the gift of giving
When community member and Busy B Bargains’ main leader Yvonne Brown is not running Farmers’ Market on a Friday, she is busy figuring out how best to help with the various local and area projects; and one that remains close to her heart is the Christmas Hamper campaign.
“We were able to donate 100 jars of peanut butter last year to the Hamper, which was pretty special,” said Brown.
Even though Christmas is over, the spirit of giving is perennial for Brown and her group of volunteers helping out at Busy B Bargains in Tofield.
At the beginning of November, all the items that had come in with their tags were sent to the Hamper.
“There was almost half-a-tonne truck load of clothes we sent over,” Brown added. “It also included a $89-snow-suit, which would be ideal for a teenager; we get a lot, and try and help as much as we can.”
With an in-house Knitters’ Group at Busy B keeping the members occupied with mitts, toques, and scarves, it wasn’t surprising that almost nothing came back. . . . contd.
