Tofield School encourages new opportunities – Part II
However, according to Social Studies and Grade 10 Learning Strategies Teacher, Rick Bobier, there are also academic opportunities that the school provides.
“The intent of the Career Fair field trip was to give students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of post-secondary institutions,” said Bobier. “This can help them look at institutions that they may be interested in after completing high school.”
Grade 10 student Hailey McLaughlin, reflected on how informative the trip was.
It helped her get an idea of what courses she could possibly take in her Grade 11 year.
“I am glad I had the opportunity to attend this trip,” stated McLaughlin. Grade 11 students also attended the trip.
According to Bobier the material the students were currently learning aligned with the date of the career fair.
Student for a Day (SFAD) visits
“I have been encouraging my students to take advantage of opportunities such as – career fairs, Open Houses or Student For a Day (SFAD) visits,” said Dave Gunderson, Career and Life Management (CALM) teacher. “These are great ways to explore options available to them after high school.” . . . contd.
