Titans are team players who rise to challenges that come their way: Coach Pam Sly
This past weekend, Feb. 1 and 2, the Tofield School hosted the Quad Basketball Tournament with Senior Boys and Girls’ teams playing various schools.
Even though the Sr. Girls didn’t fare well in the tournament, sometimes being defeated by huge margins, Coach Pam Sly said they would like to focus on something more important, and bigger.
“This weekend we didn’t win any games as it’s a competitive tournament that hosts teams that are ranked in the province,” Sly added. “We don’t hold a top 10 ranking in the province, but what we do have are athletes who are learning to play a sport; but most importantly they’re team players learning to be positive first with themselves and then with others, and who rise to the challenges that come their way.”
According to Sly, athletics is much more than just sports and Tofield School realizes this.
“Our Quad School Tournament is an incredible amount of work each year and the organizers are Mr. Brent Anderson from Ryley and our own Tita Mr. Marcel Flasha!” exclaimed Sly. “Behind the scenes our Sr. teams put hours and hours into scoring, concession duty, cleaning and creating a school that we are proud of.” . . . contd.
