Tofield boys part of Viking Midgets star in 4-4 tie against New Sarepta

Tofield Tier 3 Novice (4-7-2) dropped a 3-2 game against Vegreville at Tofield Arena on Sunday. Down 2-0 heading to the third frame, Tofield’s Jonah Marcinkoski scored at 5:45 of the third to get the home team to within one. Less than a minute later, Veg regained the two goal lead but with only 3:47 left Bentley Carson scored to make the ending very interesting though Tofield could not get the tying goal.

Holden Tier 4 Novice (11-1-2) lost their first game of the year on Saturday at Redwater 11-9. Redwater took the lead three times in the first period alone, with Holden coming back to tie each time. Holden finally took the lead in the middle frame a couple of times with Redwater tying it up twice then taking the lead itself 7-6 after two. Holden scored early in the third to tie the game before a wild finish. Holden took the lead at 16:19 with Redwater tying it 29 seconds later at 8-8. Seven seconds after the faceoff Redwater scored again to take a 9-8 lead, but Holden tied the game at 9-9 with 2:13 remaining. Redwater got the winner 21 seconds after that and added another with 34 seconds left. The two teams put together six goals in the final 3:41 of the game. Scoring for Holden were: Cooper Quinton (5g 1a), Kellen Golka (2g), Jaxson Weisgerber (1g), Wyatt Olson (1g), Brady Pope-O’Shea, Alexander Morken (1a). On Sunday, Holden bounced back to their winning ways by beating Leduc 6-4 at Viking Carena. Holden took a 3-2 lead in the middle frame and then added three more in the third to get to 6-2 before Leduc was able to reply twice late. Cooper Quinton had a 5-point game (4g 1a), while Kellen Golka (1g 2a) and Alexander Morken (1g) also scored. Assists went to; Ben Fleming (2a), and Jaxson Weisgerber (1a). No goaltending stats were recorded.

On Friday evening, Tofield boys as part of Viking Tier3 Midgets (12-4-1) starred in a 4-4 tie with New Sarepta at Tofield Arena, despite being outshot 48-38. New Sarepta was up by a goal four different times in the game but Viking came back to tie the score each time . . . contd.
