Weekend losses result in home teams crashing out of playoffs

These are some of the results from the Northern Alberta Interlock Minor Hockey League games held recently.

Tofield Tier 3 Novice split a home and home playoff series with Slave Lake over the weekend. On Saturday in Slave Lake, the visitors dropped a 5-1 game after opening the scoring on a goal by Jonah Marcinkoski. Merek Fritz and Logan Suchy got assists. On Sunday at Tofield Arena, the home team took a 3-2 lead into the third frame and added two more for a 5-2 win. Jonah Marcinkoski (2g 1a) and Baylee Roberts scored two goals each. Ethan Mekechuk also scored. Assists went to: Lane Dehid, Bentley Carson, Quaid Perrott and Merek Fritz. Everett Zilkie got the win in goal.

Tofield Tier 6 Novice lost a 5-0 playoff game in Barrhead on Saturday.

Tofield Tier 3 Atoms defeated Fort Saskatchewan 4-2 on the road, Saturday. The teams were tied 1-1 heading into the third period when Tofield broke loose for three straight goals to take command of the penalty filled game. Kowyn Laschowski and Hudson Lungal both scored twice for Tofield. Colben Pedersen and Mason Jeffrey got assists and Matthew Jansen stopped 30 to get the win in goal. On Sunday Tofield was down 3-2 in the third period but scored three third period goals compared to FS’s one for a 5-4 win. Hudson Lungal had a four-goal game. Other scorers were: Samantha Stephens (2a), Kowyn Laschowski (1g), Colben Pedersen (1a), and Mason Jeffrey (1a). Matthew Jansen got the win in goal. . . . contd.
