‘Cardboard Arcade’ building encourages creativity among Tofield students
Since early March, Tofield School Grade 5 and 6 students have been working on handmade cardboard arcades.
Librarian Stephanie Gould came up with this idea after being inspired by a YouTube video called Caine’s Arcade.
She evolved this idea into a ‘Cardboard Arcade’ fundraiser, which will be hosted in the Tofield School Gymnasium on Saturday, May 11.
“I had been looking for ways to transition the space from a traditional library to a learning commons,” said Gould. “A learning commons is a space where students can gather, create, inquire, read, etcetera. The arcade fundraiser is one way to get the kids to use the space in a non-traditional way.”
Gould further explained that the students were assembling around 15 to 25 different cardboard arcades for the fundraiser. She also added that the students were being very creative. . . . contd.
