Tofield Community Market ends season, to start up in fall again

On Saturday mornings, once a month there are vehicles lining Main Street for the Tofield Community Market, which has been in operation for over a year now.

It’s founder and operator, Brenda Oancia recalls catering to a survey she had done that showed the need for a Saturday market in town.

“We started in March 2018 and the response has been pretty great,” Oancia said.

From Scentsy products to baking, the Community Market has vendors selling a variety of products.

With $15 per table, local and area vendors can display and sell their wares and products, and the market has seen both visitors and vendors from a lot of places, even as far as Edmonton, Camrose, and Wainwright.

This table showcases some of the Tofield Colony’s knitting at the Community Market.

“We are trying to make our markets a little more kid-friendly,” Oancia added. “Last month when we had the Easter egg hunt it was a huge hit with the kids. We started at noon, but ran out of candies soon after, and I must say a huge thank you to IGA, who donated hot dogs for all the kids who were at the market.”

Running from 10 in the morning until three in the afternoon, the market usually is in operation from March to May, and is back in September, gearing up for the holiday season. . . . contd.
