Holden Farmers’ Day celebrations day of fun for all

Holden’s Farmer’s Day on Saturday, June 8 was a day to celebrate with loads of fun for all ages, starting with a pancake breakfast earlier in the morning and followed by a giant parade at 11 a.m.

People on colourful floats, and others riding horses or driving antique vehicles and wagons, as well as many other kinds of entries, smiled and waved to a happy crowd of well wishers. Children scrambled to pick up as much candy as was thrown to them by the passing parade.

After the parade, the Holden Complex was the place to be for all kinds of fun and games, as well as vendors selling their wares. A minor ball tournament could not be held due to wet fields.

Families gathered at the Market Complex to enjoy all the activities after the parade.

But the giant inflatables came inside for the children to enjoy, and the balloon man was a source of wonder for the little ones. There was face painting, a craft table and hockey slap shot competition. On the other side of the Complex, the 4-H Multi-Club held their displays and a photo booth. . . . contd.
