New Regional Emergency Manager for BESC

The Beaver Emergency Services Commission has announced that Allan Weiss has been hired as the new Regional Emergency Manager.

“He comes to us with a strong background in emergency services,” stated BESC Chair Kevin Smook. “We’d like to welcome Allan and his wife Cheryl to the Beaver region.”

Weiss started his new duties on June 10 at the BESC offices in Viking. He will oversee the fire departments within Beaver County’s borders which all operate under the commission’s auspices.

That includes departments in Tofield, Ryley, Holden, Bruce, Viking and Kinsella. These communities plus Beaver County all have representation on the Beaver Emergency Services Commission.

“This place fits my style, fits my needs and that’s why I chose it,” he said, after being on duty for a week. “I enjoy the small town feel, dealing with people one on one and just generally the community vibe. Smaller communities tend to be more personable and make you feel at home.”

He comes to BESC after a seven-year stint as Manager, Fire Services for Red Deer County. His emergency services experience began in his home town of Leduc where he worked for 15 years at the Leduc Fire Department, finishing as captain. . . . contd.
