Tofield residents assaulted at residence

During the last week Tofield RCMP responded to 52 calls for service. Included in the calls for service were six motor vehicle collisions and a false alarm.

On June 11, a resident of Tofield called in an assault at his residence. The caller reported having issues with the neighbour, who broke into the apartment. Once inside he assaulted both occupants one of which was assaulted with a stick. RCMP attended, located and arrested the suspect. The suspect, a 52-year-old male from Tofield was charged with break and enter and commit an assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats and mischief. The male was held for a judicial interim release hearing and was released on $4,000 no cash bail to attend Vegreville Provincial Court on June 24 at 10 a.m.

On June 12, the Tofield RCMP received a call of several shots fired from automatic weapons in Beaver County. The RCMP attended the area but were unable to hear or determine the origin of the shots.

On June 12, a resident of Tofield called to report they had returned home and found the door to the garage had been damaged. On checking the garage there was additional damage to some items. Fortunately it did not appear as though anything was stolen from the location. . . . . contd.
