Tofield celebrates Canada Day in style
The community of Tofield helped its residents and members celebrate Canada’s birthday with events lined up from Sunday, June 30 until Monday, July 1 ending with some spectacular fireworks at 11 p.m. on Canada Day.
Despite some showers in the early afternoon, Tofield and area participated in the revelry with much enthusiasm.
Sunday morning, the Tofield Community Church hosted an interdenominational service, followed by a barbecue lunch.
On Monday, the Tofield Community Hall held a pancake breakfast to the music of Beaverhill Brass Quintet.
This was followed by the main event, the Canada Day parade, which started its line-up at the Tofield School around 10 a.m. This year’s theme was ‘Let’s Celebrate Canada!’
After the parade, Tofield IGA served cake and coffee with the community having various lunch options, either at the Tofield Legion; or the Fire Department, which hosted a barbecue fundraiser for the Lung Association; or at the fairgrounds concession manned by the Katchemut Creek Family Horse Club. contd.
