Holden graffiti upset residents

This past week, the residents of Holden have been upset by graffiti on the walls of the Village of Holden office and a councillor’s residence, and many took to local Facebook groups to express their concerns.

While the Village of Holden office wall had ‘Fire the bitch’ spray painted, councillor Mark Giebelhaus’s residence had ‘Your not welcome here’ in orange paint.

“By the time I left home on Wednesday morning, I’d received an email, which had outlined what had been done to the Village of Holden office,” Giebelhaus explained. “When I stepped outside, three tires of my car had been slashed, and the next thing I knew I was staring at the graffiti which had been painted on one of my walls!”

Giebelhaus said that he was hoping that the perpetrator was caught at the earliest and added, “It’s some disgruntled citizen, a resident of Holden who has done this.”

There were flyers in local post office boxes offering a reward for any information on the act of vandalism, and Giebelhaus was certain that it had occurred between 1 and 3 a.m.

Speaking to the incident, Village of Holden’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Sherry Garbe said, “Sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. on July 10 someone spray painted the side of the Village of Holden administration wall and a councillor’s personal residence; the councillor also had tires slashed on his personal vehicle.”

The Village of Holden office was also subjected to the same mischief, and CAO Sherry Garbe believes it’s a targeted mischief. RCMP are looking into this and the matter is still under investigation.

According to Garbe, the incident is still under investigation, but she believes it was a “targeted attack.” . . . contd.
