WWI medals among break-and-enter loot

Last week Tofield RCMP responded to 53 calls for service which included five motor vehicle collisions and four traffic complaints.

On July 21 at 2 a.m., Tofield RCMP were dispatched to a commercial alarm at a business in Ryley. Members attended and found a lock broken off of a shed but nothing was noted as missing. There was also an abandoned truck in the driveway to the business that was stolen out of Fort Saskatchewan.

On July 21 at 10:42 p.m., Members were dispatched to a mischief call on Township 512. CN Rail reported two people on a side by side messing with the train signals. Patrols were made and the signals were deemed working properly by CN employees. The side by side was gone from the scene.

On July 22, there was an attempted theft of a F350 truck from the Ryley Public Works Shop. There was surveillance on site and the individuals involved were not able to steal the truck. This matter is still under investigation.

A break and enter was reported to Tofield RCMP on July 22 that happened at a business in Ryley. Access was gained by cutting the perimeter fence to the business. A four-inch Godwin pump worth $60,000 and a trash pump worth about $400 were stolen. This matter is still under investigation.

On July 23, members were dispatched to a shooting of a horse in a pasture. Upon further investigation, the horse was put down due to injuries. There was no criminal intent to injure the horse. The SPCA was notified according to policy. In the early morning hours, Tofield RCMP were dispatched to a collision between a train and a car on Highway 14 and Range Road 154. Two males were arrested on scene, severely intoxicated. Neither admitted to driving the car but pulled over to relieve themselves on a side road when the train hit their car.
