Rumours about Holden councillor resignations baseless: Holden CAO

This past week, the Village of Holden CAO Sherry Garbe has been inundated with queries regarding the resignation of three councillors, including the mayor.

According to Garbe, the regular council meeting on Monday, Aug. 19, went on “uneventfully” as per the agenda.

“We had a pretty regular council meeting on Monday, and the council agenda did not contain any items about councillor resignations,” Garbe said. “However, shortly after the meeting there were rumours about three councillors resigning. The rules set out in the Municipal Government Act Section 161(1) states than the resignation of a councillor must be in writing and given to the chief administrative officer . . .”
