Mobile mammography service to visit Tofield
Next week, from Wednesday to Friday, Oct. 16-18, a mobile mammography trailer will be stationed at the Tofield Health Centre on 44 St. for residents in Tofield and area.
Residents can book an appointment to be assessed.
According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), women of ages 50 to 74 is the group most at risk of developing breast cancer.
Keeping this in mind, the AHS has made this facility available, which gives residents local access to mammography services.
“A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer,” said Melissa Ballantyne, communications spokesperson for AHS. “Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.”
Canadian Cancer Society estimated that in 2019, 26,900 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, which represents 25 per cent . . . contd.
