Spilstead Hall Steak Fry organizers concerned with dwindling numbers
Despite some great weather, the attendance at this year’s annual Spilstead Hall Steak Fry was not up to the organizers’ expectations.
“We aren’t sure what happened but the weather was good and we had spread word about the event,” said Lesley Anderson, secretary of Spilstead Community Hall. “The number of people has gone down from previous years and it was one of the lowest that we can remember; we ended up losing some money at this year’s event.”
A staple of the Spilstead Hall community, this annual event has in the past raised funds for maintenance and other monthly expenses.
At a hall meeting on Monday, Oct. 7, it was decided that next year the event will be held again but if the numbers don’t improve the event has to be scrapped.
“Next year we celebrate our 20th anniversary so we’re hoping it would be different . . . with more people in attendance,” Anderson added. . . . contd.
