During the last week, Tofield RCMP responded to 38 calls for service; three of which were motor vehicle collisions.

On Dec. 10, Tofield RCMP responded to a multi family dwelling following up on a noise complaint for a party. Members attended and the party was shut down. No further complaints were received. During the early morning hours, Tofield RCMP were dispatched to a suspicious person’s call near Range Road 181 & Township 492. The complainant reported a female trying to get into her house, stating that she was out of gas and needed fuel. On route to the dispatch address, members located a F250 truck with a male in the driver’s seat. The truck was stolen out of Vermillion, and the plate did not match the vehicle. The male was placed under arrest.

When the RCMP arrived at the dispatch address, they located the female in question in a truck on the rural property. She was trying to start the vehicle, and in the process had destroyed the ignition. She was subsequently arrested and charged. Both parties were held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing. The female was charged with Theft of truck, obstruction x 2, and mischief under $5000 x 2. She was released on a Recognizance by a Justice of the Peace with a $2,000 no cash bail to report to Vegreville Court on Jan. 6, 2020. The male was charged with PSP over $5,000 x 2, Prohibited Operation of a motor vehicle, Drive uninsured motor vehicle, and Display of improper plate. He was released on a $3,000 no cash Recognizance to appear in Vegreville Court on Jan. 29, 2020. The male was subsequently held to be shipped back to Saskatchewan on outstanding warrants from Biggar, SK.
