“Our weekend started with a family dinner on Saturday, followed by friends and neighbours coming to wish her on Sunday, and finally her floor curling friends on Monday,” said her daughter Lynn Gates, who is the oldest of Brown’s three children. “We also had our brother and his wife from B.C., and our sister from Fort McLeod visiting, besides her grandchildren and great grandchildren from all over the province, and nieces and nephews.”

Speaking about Brown’s life in the community, Gates said, “Mom has always had a great attitude and positive outlook about everything, and she loves people, which keeps her so involved and engaged.

“When she moved to Tofield from Kelowna after our father died, she was living independently in an apartment here, and then one day she comes over to my place for coffee and announces that she was ready to move to the Lodge!” . . . contd.
