We want our employees safe, says IGA owner Dave Hare Sr.

It has been quite the week for Tofield’s only grocery stop – IGA.

Owner Dave Hare Sr. has been hustling with his team ever since the COVID-19 pandemic breakout to provide community with all the essential items and trying to follow stipulated guidelines by Alberta Sobey’s besides any other provincial mandatory rules.

However, it’s been a challenge for his team of workers as customers sometimes forget the “social distancing” norm of six feet or two metres in place at the moment.

“We’ve put up plexi shields and marked spots for them, but despite that we see some of our customers not obeying the six-feet rule,” Hare Sr. said. “We want to make sure that our employees are safe, and our customers. If any of our staff falls sick, or tests positive for the virus, it will be pretty bad as a lot of our elderly population depends on getting their groceries from here.” . . . contd.

The local IGA has been fitted with plexi shields as instructed by the regional Sobey’s headquarters.
