Tofield and area community come together for Grad Class of 2020
Before the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we lived, the Tofield School grad class was organizing and getting ready for the single-most important event they had worked so hard for – their graduation.
However, the past few weeks the Tofield School staff led by Melissa Korpan have been at their creative best coming up with a grad parade for the Class of 2020 this past Friday, May 8.
Tofield looked different on Friday, with groups of people, both families and friends, along with community members, some with banners and posters cheering the grads on while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
“It was such a great parade! I loved seeing how many people came to watch and cheer on our grads,” Korpan said, who was able to even rope in other provincial media to cover the event. “Tofield really came together for this unique grad celebration, and it warmed my heart. I couldn’t stop smiling on Friday. It was so great that the weather cooperated too.
“Even though most of the grads would have been sheltered in their vehicles, the parade wouldn’t have been as much fun with rain.” . . . contd.
