Demolition in Ministik School’s future

In less than four years, Ministik School has gone from “save our school” parent protests about a possible closure, to fully decommissioned in 2017, to complete demolition plans this fall.

The former school, built in 1909 with lumber purchased from WC Swift of Tofield and hauled to the school by Andrew and Archie Ferguson, is located on Highway 14 east of Tofield. It was rebuilt to its present form in 1951.

At one time a full 30 km school zone slowed Highway 14 traffic through the Ministik School area and was a favourite ticket location for highway patrol.
