Tofield School given outbreak status by AHS with rise in COVID cases
Tofield School was declared a COVID-19 outbreak site by Alberta Health Services (AHS) on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
In a letter published on the School’s website, Principal Janice Muench confirmed this and said, “All of the families who are impacted by this new case have been notified directly. If you have not been contacted directly we do not believe your child is a close contact.
“Your child is not at an increased risk. None of the people who have tested positive have been in the school this week. Our school remains open for in-person learning for the elementary grades and our Grade 7 to 12 students continue to learn online.”
She added, “We can see from our own school experience how quickly COVID can spread. Students and staff who are in quarantine must stay home from work and all other activities.”
In another press release addressed to parents and guardians of Tofield School students, AHS stated that with more than two cases of COVID-19 being confirmed, the School now is an outbreak site. . . . contd.
