Beaver County resident reports online CERB fraud
The Tofield RCMP responded to 28 occurrences from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, 2020 (inclusive). Also included in these calls for service was seven motor vehicle collisions with wildlife, eight traffic complaints, one accident and traffic enforcement provided by the K Division Traffic Unit.
On Nov. 30, Tofield RCMP responded to a report of a suicidal individual in Ryley. RCMP and EMS attended and were able to assist in having the individual safely transported to the hospital for assessment.
On Nov. 30, Tofield RCMP responded to an online CERB fraud, which was reported in Beaver County. The complainant reported that in August 2020, the complainant’s personal and banking information was changed online with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) whereby the suspect was planning to have the victims CERB payments deposited into the fraudulently updated bank accounts. . . . contd.
