Rasmussen, who lived with his wife Lorraine in the community was a known face in Tofield and area.

Known as a ‘rough rider’ and ‘riding master’, he trained and presented Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with her famous horse, Burmese. He also had the honour of riding with the Queen around the castle grounds in 1974, during the Ride on a seven-country European tour.

Rasmussen grew up on a farm in Denmark during WWII, where he learnt to love horses.

Once he immigrated to Canada after the war, Rasmussen joined the Force, and dedicated 26 years of service to the horses and those who rode or wanted to learn to ride. . . . contd.
