Friends of Ryley School Society fundraises for new playground
After a silent auction in December, the Friends of Ryley School Society (FORSS) decided to ramp up their fundraising efforts and held a 50/50 draw recently through Rafflebox.
FORSS strives to support the Ryley School and it’s staff, and right now their objective is to provide students with a new playground, which will not only help their physical well being, but also their mental health, according to President Ray Vanstone.
“Especially during times like these when kids are restricted to what they can or can’t do outdoors, we believe a playground will be the right way to go,” he said.
Secretary Cassandra Freeman explained that with Ryley School previously being a Jr/Sr High School, it did not require a playground. It was when school started in September, and the school was ready for young children with the only exception of outdoor space that the importance of a playground became paramount. . . . contd.
