Tofield resident heads to National Junior High Finals Rodeo

Tofield’s Brooke Busenius is headed to the National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in Des Moines, Iowa and will be competing in poles and ribbon roping.

She was placed fourth in both events for the Provincial Finals held in Nanton, and missed her opportunity to come in the top three.

Part of the District 2J, Busenius placed second in poles and third in ribbon roping. The other events of note were barrels, where she placed fourth; 11th in team roping; and 12th in break away.

As a 14-year-old, Busenius takes nothing for granted and practises with her horse Whitney regularly at the McDougall Arena, just east of Ponoka.
