Fraud and assault complaints keep Tofield RCMP busy

The Tofield RCMP responded to 42 occurrences from Aug. 23 to 29, 2021 (inclusive). Also included in these calls for service were 24 traffic complaints/tickets, four suspicious person/vehicle complaints, three wellbeing checks, two 911 complaints/false alarms, four motor vehicle collisions and traffic enforcement provided by the K Division Traffic Unit.

On Aug. 23, Tofield RCMP responded to a fraud complaint in Tofield. RCMP attended and found that a local business had received a credit card payment from a customer to purchase approximately $4,500 worth of product and that the credit card used to purchase the goods was reported stolen. This file is still under investigation.

On Aug. 24, Tofield RCMP responded to an assault complaint in Holden. RCMP attended and spoke to all parties involved and found that a physical altercation had occurred between two individuals. RCMP separated the individuals and on Aug. 27, Tofield RCMP charged Nathaniel Robert Winter (30), of Holden, with the following – Assault with a weapon; Assault; and Theft under $5,000. Nathaniel Robert Winter was released on conditions to appear in Vegreville Provincial Court on Sept. 20.
