It has been suggested that we could all use a crying room in our homes. Even if it was done tongue-in-cheek (the speaker was a bit of a kidder) doesn’t mean it’s a silly idea. Back when Covid first reared its ugly head I’m sure many of us would have welcomed a place to sob unobserved. There even may have been a line up at the door.

According to Medical News Today there are several benefits to crying. It has a self-soothing effect; releases endorphins that reduce pain; aids sleep; and even boosts vision. In short, we all feel better after a good cry. And I don’t know how they got the stats, but they claim that women cry an average of 3.5 times a month; men average 1.9 times per month, that they’ll admit to, anyway. Those numbers are in the US, of course. I’m sure we Canadians are made of stronger stuff.
